FAQ's
Do you want to be published but are not sure how to go about it? The following questions will help you understand how we at Petals execute the process of submission and evaluation of proposals and manuscripts:
1. How do I get published?
Getting Published with PETALS is quite simple. All you need to do is, mail us Synopsis part of your manuscript, three sample chapters (preferably the first three), along with Author biography and a marketing plan if you wish to go with Traditional Publishing & other contact details on our official mail Id. Our editorial team will go through the content and will contact you accordingly. And if you do not get a reply from us within a span of three months, consider your script rejected.
2. What is Traditional Publishing and how does it differ from Self Publishing?
Basically, there are two types of Publishers. First, offering Traditional Publishing, in which Author does not need to pay anything to get his/her work published. Second, offering Self Publishing, in which Author has to pay according to the Self Publishing packages available with the Publisher.
3. What is the basic criterion for selection of a script?
There is nothing like a strict criterion for selecting a manuscript. Content has to be edited, and a good story is all you need. Once our Editors are done reading the manuscript and if they are satisfied with the content, they will go with it and rest will be handled by us. Or, if our Editors feel that they can make the content better by editing, they will get it done with the mutual content of Author & the Publisher.
4. Which genre you prefer the most?
We accept all kinds of Fiction & Non-Fiction scripts, without focusing on any particular genre or on any particular language. It should be good and it should be real.
5. What all services do you provide?
We have PETALS Publishers & Distributors for Publishing and PETALS Literary Services for all kinds of Literary Services, which includes Translation, Editing, Proof Reading, Cover Designing, Type Setting, Marketing, Book-Launch Events and Offline Distribution, even for the titles that are not published by us.
6. Whom shall I contact during the process of evaluation?
The detailed process of evaluation takes a minimum of three months. During this time, we won’t be unable to respond to any queries either by phone, fax, email or in person. The decision is communicated at the end of the evaluation period. We are not obligated to assign any reason if your proposal/manuscript does not suit our publishing programme.
7. What are the terms and conditions - royalties, number of copies, distribution network - under which my book will be published?
Terms and conditions pertaining to royalties, number of copies, distribution network are all decisions which are taken only during the final acceptance of a book for publication. If your manuscript is accepted, these will automatically be discussed. Queries pertaining to these at the time of submitting your proposal or during the evaluation process are premature.
